The 2022 GMC Hummer EV may hit the market with 537 km of range. The all-electric pickup truck has yet to have its range certified by the EPA but recently, a user over at the HummerChat forum discovered an intriguing piece of range information in the MyChevrolet smartphone application.
According to the forum user, he updated
the MyChevrolet app and found that it listed three electric models from GM,
namely the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, as well as the 2022 GMC Hummer
EV. It seems likely that the Hummer EV was added to the application
inadvertently but it does list it with 334 miles of range. The forum user also
found that if he clicked on the Hummer, it provided a map of how far he could
drive on a single charge based on his current location. The application fails
to mention which specific variant of the GMC Hummer EV the 334-mile figure
relates to.
Autoblog suggests that the range figure is
most likely placeholder information and perhaps a target that GMC is chasing.
It could be for the flagship Hummer EV Edition 1, which will be the first to
hit the market, or could be for a future tri-motor or dual-motor variant, such
as the EV3X, EV2X, or EV2.
Whatever the explanation, a range of
around the 330-350 mile mark doesn’t come as a shock as GMC had promised range
figures of between “250+” and “350+” when it first unveiled the truck last
year, depending on the model. The truck is expected to have a 200 kWh battery
pack but it will be exceptionally heavy, tipping the scales at over 9,000 lbs
according to reports.
