Fisker took to the show floor at the LA Auto Show today to display the production version of the Ocean. The automaker added that it expects the electric SUV to start rolling through the Graz, Austria, production facility in exactly one year, on November 17, 2022. Prices for the Ocean will start at US$ 37,499 before federal and state tax credits for the “Sport” trim. The Fisker Ocean Ultra, meanwhile, will start at US$ 49,999 and the Ocean Extreme will start at US$ 68,999. The first 5,000 units produced will be called the Fisker Ocean One and will have a starting price of US$ 68,999.

One of the biggest differences between the base Sport and the higher-priced models is the battery chemistry. The lower-priced model will use a lithium-ion phosphate battery cell supplied by CATL. It will be enough to get the Ocean 402 km on a charge, while a single motor at the front churns out 275 hp and will get you to 96 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The higher-trim Oceans, meanwhile, will come with a nickel manganese cobalt cell chemistry, also supplied by CATL. It should be enough to provide the Ocean Ultra with a 547 km range, while the two electric motors will pump out 540 hp and get the SUV to 96 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The Ocean Extreme and One, meanwhile, will be capable of 562 km per charge and their 550 hp motors will get them from 0-96 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. With a solar roof, Fisker figures that these models could get an extra 3,219 km of range per year under ideal conditions. Offered with either 20-inch aero wheels or three sets of optional 22-inch wheels, the Ocean gets its own tires specially designed by Bridgestone for optimal performance and range. A “California Mode” button, meanwhile, lowers all of the windows and retracts the sliding roof to provide as open-air an experience as possible.

Inside, five passengers will be seated in eco-friendly luxury thanks to a fully vegan interior that is made using recycled and reclaimed materials. A 17.1-inch high-resolution screen, meanwhile, can rotate from portrait mode (for driving) to landscape, or “Hollywood”, mode when the vehicle is parked. Fisker will also offer a range of driver assistance systems, including a mode that is designed to enhance driver protection, safety, and comfort, using radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to anticipate and prevent accidents. Owners will also be able to recharge other EVs and send power to the electrical grid if need be. The company says customers can use the vehicle to power their homes in the event of a power outage.

Available for purchase at the end of 2022, customers can start reserving vehicles now by putting down a US$ 250 deposit. A subscription model, termed a “Flexee Lease,” will also be offered for US$ 379/month with a one-time US$ 2,999 initiation fee.
