Maserati built the previous-generation GranTurismo for no less than 12 years and soon, an all-new model will hit the market. A number of prototypes have been spied testing in recent months and not too long ago. Like the outgoing model, it is shaping up to have a thumping exhaust note.
Maserati hasn’t yet revealed that
powertrain will drive the new GranTurismo but all signs point towards it being
the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 as the mid-engined MC20 supercar. This
engine has a dual injection system and a pre-chamber combustion system with
twin-spark plugs. It delivers 621 hp and 730 Nm of torque in the
MC20 but could be detuned for use in the GraWhatever the case may be, it’s
inevitable that the new model will be significantly more powerful than its
predecessor which topped out at 454 hp and 520 Nm of torque in MC
Stradale and Sport guises.
Maserati has confirmed that the new
GranTurismo will also be available in all-electric guise, although it is
unclear if this variant will be positioned as the flagship model or if it could
be cheaper than the standard V8 variant. Visually, the new GranTurismo will
have a similar overall shape to the first-generation model but come complete
with revised front and rear fascias more reflective of the brand’s current
design language.
