FAW Group has brought its newest Bestune-badged production car, the B70S, to the Auto Guangzhou. The company claims the new model represents a symbolic reboot of the Bestune brand and primarily caters to the tastes of the younger audiences. Sales will start in early 2022.

The B70S is proudly called a ‘coupe SUV’ and a ‘strategic entry in the lineup’ by its manufacturer, but it is really just a high-riding hatchback based on the standard B70 chassis. Thanks to different styling and platform revisions, the S model is actually 250 mm shorter than the original B70 at 4,555 mm. It is also 1,850 mm wide and 1,515 mm tall with 2,750 mm between the axles.

The new design direction is known as ‘the philosophy of light and darkness,’ according to FAW. The front end sports a rather elaborate bumper and boomerang-shaped headlights, while the tail wears a large spoiler and LED brake lights with patterns inspired by the outlines of the Great Wall. The overall outlines are rather dynamic, helped by 19-inch wheels and pull-out handles.

The driver enjoys access to three displays, including a multimedia screen and a dashboard merged into one solid panel and a dedicated HVAC touch panel. Those who dislike sensor controls are in luck: there are also physical ones. Trim options include a panoramic roof and all-around view cameras.

Buyers of the new B70S will be able to choose between a 1.5-liter turbo rated at 169 PS and 258 Nm of torque and a larger 2.0-liter one capable of 224 PS and 340 Nm. Transmission options include six-speed manual, six-speed auto and seven-speed DCT. All-wheel drive is non-existent.
