Following a preview last month, BDS Suspension has officially unveiled a pickup based on the 2021 Ford Bronco. Dubbed the Fire Command, the one-off model draws inspiration from early half cab Broncos that were popular with rural fire departments. However, that’s where the similarities end as the 2021 Bronco has been extensively modified as it features a short bed, a customized hardtop and a drop down tailgate. Other notable highlights include extended fender flares, a unique tonneau cover, Crawltek bumpers and Warn winches. The model also sports auxiliary lights and a Yakima LoadWarrior basket.
Of course, coming from BDS Suspension, the
Bronco has also been lifted. In this case, the model has been outfitted with
the company’s 4 inch DSC Coilover Lift System that features adjustable control
arms, an adjustable track bar, and FOX 2.5 Performance Elite Series coilovers
with remote reservoir shocks. Completing the look is 17-inch beadlock wheels
wrapped in 37-inch Nitto Trail Grappler tires.
Since the truck was designed for use by a
fire chief, it has been outfitted with emergency flashers as well as rescue
equipment such as an axe, shovel and chainsaw. The model also boasts emergency
communications equipment, personal protective equipment, and supplies for
rendering first aid.
Moving into the cabin, the truck sports
two-tone Katzkin leather seats with BDS embroidery on the headrests. Drivers
will also find a custom roll cage, Ford Performance door sill plates, and a
Garmin Overlander GPS unit. Motivation comes from a 2.3-liter EcoBoost
four-cylinder engine that has been equipped with a cat back exhaust and a
Hypertech “throttle optimizer.” It’s connected to a seven-speed manual
transmission, which sends power to a four-wheel drive system.
