Young and aspiring automaker Biliti Electric will be coming to the Los Angeles Auto Show with the GMW Taskman, a three-wheel battery car resembling an auto rickshaw. The affordable vehicle supports fast battery swapping for continued operation throughout the day. It remains to be seen whether delivery businesses in the USA will be interested, but the startup has already found customers in fifteen countries and recently entered the market of Portugal, so it should be possible.
The vehicle only has one seat – the
driver’s – and can take up to 680 kilograms on board. It does
not go beyond 48 km/h and has 177 km of range. Charging
from zero to full takes three and a half hours, but drive to a SmartSwapp station,
and they will have your battery replaced with a full one in a minute.
Elsewhere, the car has scooter-sized
wheels and a smart headlamp mounted on the lone front fender, which turns along
with the wheel and makes sure to illuminate the road in the direction of the
movement. There are no doors at all, so the driver only has the roof and the
windshield to protect them from the elements.
In Portugal, the GMW Taskman costs
€ 10,000; prices for the North America remain to be announced.
