Hyundai recently announced pricing for the 2022 Kona N and now the company is following up with details about the Elantra N. Set to arrive this winter, the Elantra N isn’t cheap as pricing begins at US$ 32,925 and climbs to US$ 34,425 when equipped with the optional eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. That’s also before factoring in a US$ 1,025 destination charge.
While the Elantra N costs more than the
Volkswagen Jetta GLI, it’s significantly more powerful as the model has a
turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 276 hp and 392 Nm of torque. The vehicle is also equipped with an N
Grin Shift function that can temporarily increase the output to 286 hp.
Sticking with the performance theme, the
Elantra N has a sport-tuned suspension, an integrated drive axle, and increased
rigidity thanks to a rear chassis brace. They’re joined by a beefier braking
system, launch control, and an electronic limited-slip differential. That’s
only part of the story as the sedan receives a sporty makeover, which includes
aggressive fascias, a matte black grille, red accents, and 19-inch alloy wheels
wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Buyers will also find a front lip
spoiler, a rear wing and diffuser, and a sizable dual exhaust system.
The sporty styling continues in the cabin
thanks to leather and microsuede front sport seats with heating. They’re joined
by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching 10.25-inch
infotainment system with GPS navigation. Other niceties include a dual-zone
automatic climate control system, a wireless smartphone charger, and an
eight-speaker Bose premium audio system.
Rounding out the highlights are an
assortment of driver assistance systems including Forward Collision-Avoidance
Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision-Avoidance Assist. The model also features Lane Keeping Assist, Lane
Following Assist, High Beam Assist, and Safe Exit Warning.
