Mercedes’ electric vehicle push continues as spy photographers have snapped the EQE SUV undergoing cold weather testing in Scandinavia. Set to slot beneath the upcoming EQS SUV, the model will feature an aerodynamic design that follows in the footsteps of the EQE and EQS. While the camouflage hides a number of details, we can see the crossover will be equipped with a curvaceous front end and a fully enclosed grille that is flanked by sizable headlights.
Continuing down the sides, we can see
streamlined bodywork and a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof.
The model also has an upward sweeping beltline and flush-mounted door handles.
Lastly, there’s an upright rear end with a liftgate-mounted spoiler and
wraparound taillights. They’re joined by an angular rear window and a spot for
Mercedes’ three-pointed star.
Spy photographers didn’t get close enough
to snap interior pictures, but the cabin will likely echo the EQE. As a result,
we can expect a three-spoke steering wheel, a floating center console, and an
available MBUX Hyperscreen. The latter consists of a 12.3-inch digital
instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch display
for the front passenger. The crossover is slated to ride on the EVA2
architecture and will presumably share powertrains with the EQE. Mercedes
hasn’t released full details about the latter, but has already confirmed the
model will have a 90.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and be offered with rear-
and all-wheel drive.
The car will have outputs ranging from 288
hp to over 671 hp, and we can expect the
same for the EQE SUV. Of course, the crossover’s size likely means it won’t
match the EQE’s range of up to 660 km in the WLTP cycle.
