On December 18, Dongfeng officially launched the 2022 facelifted ForThing M7 model at an event in Guangzhou. The new car is positioned as a medium-sized MPV. A total of 5 new models were introduced, priced at RMB 146,900 to RMB 249,900 (US$ 23,060 – US$ 39,230) . ForThing is a brand under Dongfeng Liuzhou, a division of Dongfeng Motor. The Chinese name is Fengxing. They are located in Liuzhou, a small city 500km from Guangzhou. A small city in China means 2.1 million inhabitants. They were famous for manufacturing boring MPV and boring SUVs.
Compared with the 2019 model, the
facelifted 2022 Dongfeng Forthing M7 has mainly upgraded the power system,
including a honeycomb power 2.0T engine and ZF 8AT gearbox. It continues the
main design style of the old model. The most obvious change is the replacement
of the new Lion logo. In terms of body size, the new car’s length, width, and
height have reached 5170/1920/1930 mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is
3198 mm.
The new car still uses a huge air intake
grille. Inside the grille are three banner-type chrome-plated trim strips
closely integrated with the headlights on both sides. The use of LED door
welcome projection lights and LED streamer welcome pedals and the use of
imitation marble and color-blocking carpets increase the sense of luxury and
business.
The interior of the car adopts a double
color matching design and is wrapped with many soft materials. The rear seats
are upgraded to a private aviation cockpit, with ventilation and heating,
electric leg rests, electric backrests, and 180-degree equalization functions.
n addition, the car is equipped with 7-inch LCD instrumentation and an
11.8-inch touch LCD screen.
In terms of power, the new car is equipped
with a 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum horsepower of 224 horsepower and
a peak torque of 385 Nm. The transmission system is matched with an 8AT
variable box. The overall fuel consumption given is 9.8L.
