California-based logistics company Total Transportation Services was the first to receive a few Nikola-badged electric trucks. Should the tests prove successful, another hundred will be ordered.

TTS has so far received two all-electric Nikola Tre trucks and another two running on hydrogen fuel cell power. The company specializes in portside cargo transportation and mostly uses its vehicles over short distances in the vicinity of the HQ. Keeping the entire fleet charged and fueled is trivial in these conditions. If using the semis shipped so far proves efficient enough go the business, it will be ordering another 30 units in 2022 and 70 fuel cell trucks a year after that. The port in Hamburg, Germany also plans to acquire 25 Tre semis.

The electric version of the truck features a 6x2 wheel formula and comes equipped with a battery rated as high as 753 kilowatt-hours, which gives it up to 563 km of range according to an unspecified standard. The powertrain exerts 645 PS and takes it to a top speed of 121 km/h. The curb weight is not stated, while the gross vehicle weight exceeds 37 metric tons.
