The Indian electric vehicle market has been booming lately as many India-based companies have moved towards the Electric vehicle counterpart. One such brand named Okaya, the battery manufacturer has launched its own Electric scooter dubbed Okaya Electric Faast. The Electric Faast is priced at ₹89,990 (US$ 1,200) and it will compete with the likes of the popular Ather 450x, Ola Electric S1, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and Bounce Infinity E1. The scooter is currently up for booking in India for Rs. 1,999 (US$ 27). It will soon be up for booking at the nearest Okaya dealer or from the official website.
The Okaya Electric Faast was showcased at
the EV Expo 2021 held in Greater Noida, Delhi, India. The electric scooter
comes with 150-200 km of range even at its top speed of 60-70 kmph. With this
range, it is one of the longer-running scooters in the market. It utilizes a
4.4kW lithium phosphate battery which offers the claimed extended range.
It has LED lights at the front and sports
digital cluster DRLs, combined braking system. It has a maxi-scooter style
design that offers a bold look from the fronts. The scooter’s built details,
seat storage capacity, and other specs aren’t known. But we expect the company
to list it soon on its portal. Okaya already has three electric vehicles, the
AVIONIQ, CLASSIQ, AND FREEDUM. With the Electric Faast’s launch, the company’s
EV portfolio has expanded. At the EV Expo 2021, the company also revealed that
it will soon launch an Electric motorcycle called Okaya Ferrato. Since it will
be a motorcycle, it will have a higher 80-90 kmph speed and up to 100km range.
