Australian tuning company TJM has revealed a kit for turning the new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 into a hardcore overlanding SUV with revised suspension and improved body cladding. The engine stays the same. A special bull bar at the front end ensures that all driver aids continue to function normally, as do the airbags. Buyers can specify additional lights and/or a winch here if they need any.
Metal sheets protect the undercarriage
against damage, while the side sills benefit from tubular extensions that skirt
the front wheel arches and join with the front bumper. An expedition rack on
the roof has mount points for a tent and a shovel, and resides next to a light
bar.
The suspension takes advantage of better
springs, arms and adjustable twin-tube shocks. The ground clearance seems to be
higher, but the company provides no specifics here. New wheels with beadlock
protection and off-road tires also contribute to the ride height, and a snorkel
pipe enables wading through deep water.
In Australia, the Land Cruiser 300 is only
available with a 3.3-liter V6 turbo diesel rated at 309 PS and 700 Nm of torque. TJM is already accepting pre-orders, but
prices remain to be announced.
