Citroen’s family-friendly C5 Aircross SUV has received a mid-life overhaul to ensure it remains competitive and fresh against newer rivals Looking more modern than its predecessor, the crossover adopts a new front end that is a radical departure from the outgoing model. The changes are immediately apparent as the facelifted C5 Aircross adopts a smaller and more modern grille, which features illuminated bars that look like LED strips from afar and which flow into new headlights. They’re joined by a revamped Citroen logo and split daytime running lights.
Further below, the crossover adopts a
sportier front bumper with pronounced intakes as well as less plastic cladding.
We can also see revised fog light surrounds and a new metallic accent on the
front lip. Rounding out the highlights are gloss black mirrors and new 18-inch
alloy wheels. The rear end has also been given a minor refreshening thanks to
new taillights.
Moving into the cabin, drivers will find a
revamped cockpit that draws inspiration from the one found in the C5 X. The
most noticeable change is the new infotainment system, which features a
freestanding 10-inch display. It’s joined by slimmer central air vents and a
revamped center console that features a minimalist shifter. Buyers will also
find new Advanced Comfort seats, which have additional padding as well as
heating and massage functions.
The facelifted C5 Aircross will arrive at
European dealerships this summer and offer a familiar mix of petrol, diesel,
and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The latter consists of a PureTech 180 S&S
petrol engine and a 13.2 kWh battery pack that powers an electric motor. This
setup gives the crossover a combined output of 222 hp and an
electric-only range of 55 km.
