Lexus has launched the configurator for the 2022 LX and revealed U.S. pricing will begin at US$ 86,900. Set to arrive at dealerships in the first quarter, the 2022 Lexus LX is US$ 30 less than its predecessor despite being completely redesigned. The company didn’t release many exterior details, but the entry-level model will have a power rear door and 20-inch alloy wheels with a machined finish.
Moving into the cabin, the five-seat LX
600 has Black or Palomino leather with black or brown open-pore wood trim. The
front seats offer heating and power adjustment, and they’re joined by a power
tilt-and-telescopic steering column. Other highlights include a power moonroof,
a ten speaker audio system, and a wireless smartphone charger. They’re joined
by an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch vehicle information display,
and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. Drivers will also find the
new Lexus Interface system, which features a 12.3-inch display and cloud-based
navigation. The voice-focused infotainment system also has integrated Amazon
Music as well as support for wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.
On the safety front, there’s the Lexus
Safety System+ 2.5 suite of driver assistance systems. It features All-Speed
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Lane
Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and a Pre-Collision System with
Pedestrian Detection. They’re joined by Intelligent High Beams, a Blind Spot
Monitor, a Panoramic View Monitor, a Multi-Terrain Monitor, and Intuitive
Parking Assist with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Braking.
Power is provided by a twin-turbo 3.5-liter
V6 engine, which develops 409 hp and 649 Nm of
torque. It’s connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission and a full-time
four-wheel drive system with an electronic locking center differential. This
setup enables the model to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in 6.9 seconds
and hit a top speed of 209 km/h. While the LX isn’t fast, it should
be plenty capable off-road as it comes with Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl
Control with Turn Assist. The model also boasts a standard towing package,
which enables it to haul up to 3,629 kg.
Moving up the trim ladder is the US$ 95,000
LX 600 Premium, which features heated and ventilated front seats as well as a
heated leather steering wheel. Buyers will also find a head-up display,
thematic ambient lighting, and power folding third-row seats. Rounding out the
highlights are an adaptive variable suspension and a power rear door with a
kick sensor.
Customers looking for something sportier
can opt for the US$ 101,000 LX 600 F Sport Handling. It features unique bumpers
and a mesh grille as well as 22-inch forged alloy wheels with a dark gray
metallic finish. Buyers will also find illuminated door sills, semi-aniline
leather seats, Hadori aluminum trim, and aluminum pedals. While Lexus could
have called it a day with the styling upgrades, they didn’t as the model comes
equipped with a sport-tuned suspension, performance dampers, a unique rear
stabilizer bar, and a limited-slip differential.
One step up is the LX 600 Luxury, which
begins at US$ 103,000 and eschews the F Sport’s dynamic touches. Instead,
customers will find a heated leather and wood steering wheel, ventilated
second-row seats, and rear sunshades. The model also boasts “one-touch
auto-arrange power-folding seats,” a 25-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio
system, and 22-inch forged alloy wheels with a machined finish.
Lastly, there’s the range-topping LX 600
Ultra Luxury which starts at US$ 126,000. It features an extravagant four-seat
interior with two individual rear seats with heating, ventilation and massage
functions. The rear seats recline and feature a power ottoman on the right
side. They’re separated by a console and occupants will find a wireless
smartphone charger and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.4-inch
displays. While the model is focused on back seaters, the LX 600 Ultra Luxury
also comes equipped with a digital rearview mirror and active height control. That’s
just a brief glimpse at some of the LX’s features and we’ll also note the
Premium and Luxury variants can be equipped with a US$ 1,295 Appearance Package.
It adds a matte gray grille, dark gray roof rails, black chrome accents, and
black door handles as well as mirror caps.
