Mitsubishi Australia has added a flagship model to the 2022 Pajero Sport lineup in the shape of the seven-seat GSR. At the other end of the Pajero Sport range, two new two-wheel drive variants have also been introduced, named the GLX and GLS. With the addition of the GLX 2WD, the Australian Pajero Sport’s starting price (RRP) is now AU$ 43,940 (US$ 31,600). The GSR spec starts at an RRP of AU$ 60,940 (US$ 43,782) and builds upon the luxury offered by the Exceed spec with a few cosmetic enhancements.
Available in either Black Mica or White
Diamond (the latter with a black roof), the GSR features 18-inch black alloy
wheels, front and rear bumper garnish, and blacked-out exterior and interior
accents. The black treatment is also applied to the front and rear bumper
garnish, radiator grille, and roof rails.
Updates to the interior are minimal, and
the GSR features three rows of seats, with the rear-most set of chairs able to
fold into the boot floor. The body-on-frame construction of the Pajero Sport
(also known as the Shogun Sport and Montero Sport in other markets) will no
doubt continue to endear itself to customers looking for a capable SUV.
The GSR is available exclusively with Mitsubishi’s
Super Select II 4WD system, as well as the same 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine
that is also found in the Triton pick-up and the rest of the Pajero Sport
range. The engine develops 174 hp and 430 Nm of
torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Finally, electric lumbar support for the
driver’s seat is now standard across the range, joining other features
including Forward Collision Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Apple CarPlay
and Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen, and climate control.
