David Brown Automotive has just completed work on the latest example of its limited-run Speedback Silverstone Edition. The Speedback Silverstone Edition in question was built for a customer in Asia and apparently took over 8,000 hours to hand build. It is painted in Black Metallic and finishing it in this shade alone is said to have taken over 8 weeks. Contrasting the paint is milled aluminum brightwork that’s chrome-plated and hand-brushed.
Extensive time was also spent on the
interior of the car. The customer ordered their Speedback with heated and
cooled seats clad in hand-trimmed Oyster leather. Also found within are various
open-pore wood elements in the dashboard and door cards, as well as aluminum
Union Jack and Silverstone Edition inlays. Various pieces of brushed chrome
metalwork also catch the eye.
The owner also ordered the Speedback
Silverstone Edition with David Brown Automotive’s picnic set located in the
trunk. This includes a custom wool blanket, leather whisky bottle holder, and
leather-trimmed flasks.
Like the other nine examples that David
Brown will produce, the car is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 derived
from the Jaguar XKR on which the car is based. This engine is good for 601 hp
and coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels
through an active rear differential. It can hit 96 km/h in a claimed
4.2 seconds and reach a 250 km/h top speed.
