Back in 2017, Pagani unveiled the Zonda HP Barchetta, one of the countless special editions of the Italian hypercar that was supposed to be the last. In 2019, the automaker revealed they won’t be making any new Zondas, only new variants based on existing chassis. Fast forward to 2022, and LMM Design has teased a new Zonda on Instagram, which will allegedly be the “fifth and final entry into Pagani’s insane 760 Series”.
According to LMM Design, the model will be
a “brand new” Zonda created in collaboration with the Pagani factory, and the
first Zonda specification fully designed by the firm. While the term brand new
is pretty much self-explanatory, we can’t help but wonder if an existing Zonda
served as a base for this project. The company will reveal the full
specifications of the hypercar “soon”. Until then, we only have a set of teaser
photos showing the production process.
Since its introduction in 1999, the Pagani
Zonda has seen more special editions and bespoke models than any other
hypercar, despite the fact that its total production was capped at 140 units.
Over the years, we have seen plenty of bespoke Zondas bearing the 760 name,
however, the original Zonda 760 Series that were built from new as such are
reportedly five. Four of them have a coupe bodystyle, including the LH
previously owned by Lewis Hamilton, but the fifth and last will be a roadster.
The shadowy teaser reveals the silhouette
of the hypercar which comes with extra bits and pieces from previous special
editions, all made of carbon fiber. Judging from the other members of the 760
Series, the new Zonda 760 Roadster will be fitted with AMG’s naturally
aspirated 7.3-liter V12 producing 760 hp that will be sent to the rear axle
through a manual gearbox. As for the price, we are definitely talking about a
multi-million purchase since Zondas have gone up in value and are rarely being
auctioned.
