Austrian sports car maker KTM is working on a road-worthy modification of its X-Bow GT2 racecar, Autocar reports adding that it will be using a five-cylinder turbo rated close to 600 PS.
The GT2 model sports the same carbon fiber monocoque body as
its peers, which weighs in at 80 kg. Unlike the standard road-going
X-Bow, it features a closed body design with a different shoulder line and a
carbon fiber hood. It uses a 2.5-liter Audi RS3 five-cylinder turbo in
conjunction with a seven-speed sequential transmission.
In all likelihood, the street version of the car will retain
the appearance and design of a closed coupe. It may also inherit the same
engine block while getting a softer suspension and a less ascetic interior with
better noise proofing and more comfortable seats. As a result, it will likely
weigh more than the racer’s 1,048 kilos. Then again, all of it is
pure speculation at this time.
According to Autocar, KTM intends to expand its offer
gradually while still producing no more than 100 X-Bow units per year. It would
enable it to keep exclusivity and pricing high enough to stay profitable: the
GT2 racer starts from € 230,000 before options.
