Lexus revealed a new special edition of the LC in Europe called “Hokkaido Edition”. The new limited edition features special design touches and is named after Hokkaidō island – a luxury travel destination in Japan that is renowned for its volcanoes, mountain woodlands, Onsen hot spas, and beautiful roads. Hokkaidō island is also the home of Lexus Shibetsu proving grounds where sporty models like the LFA and the LC were developed.
The new Lexus LC Hokkaido is available in
both coupé and convertible versions. Visually it can be distinguished by the
21-inch alloy wheels, a black-finished grille and chromework, and a set of
“afterburner-style” taillights. It is exclusively available in Flare Red, Sonic
Platinum, F White, and Graphite color options while the LC Convertible is
available with either a black or red fabric soft top.
Inside, we find a duo-tone treatment with
dark rose (red) and black shades. Besides the red-upholstered center tunnel and
center console, the door and the dashboard on the driver’s side are red while
the rest of the interior is black for a nice asymmetry effect. The color
choices were inspired by the volcanic nature of the Hokkaido region while there
is also a numbered plaque communicating its limited character.
Customer will be able to get a Lexus LC
Hokkaido with either a hybrid V6 or a V8 engine, just like the “regular” LC.
The LC 500h is fitted with a 3.5-liter V6 and two electric motors producing a
combined 354 hp and
500 Nm of torque. The more powerful LC 500 is fitted with a
naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 471 hp and 540 Nm of torque.
Production of the LC Hokkaido Edition is
limited to 40 coupes and 40 convertibles for 2022, reserved for European
customers. Sales in Europe will start from April 2022. We don’t know if Lexus
is planning on bringing the Hokkaido to other markets in the near future, but
judging from its strategy with other special editions, this sounds like a
plausible scenario.
