The much-awaited successor of the Lamborghini Aventador has made its spy debut wearing a thin layer of camouflage over what appears to be its production body. This is our first look at the upcoming hybrid V12-powered supercar and gives us a good idea of how aggressive the new flagship Lambo will look. The yet-unnamed flagship from Sant’Agata retains the traditional wedge shape with the tail being wider than the front, but every single part of it is new. Compared to the Aventador, the new big Lambo appears to have a more sculpted profile with larger side intakes designed for cooling the hybrid V12 powertrain.

The front end remains very sharp, featuring slim headlights mounted low on the fenders, extra DRLs on the nose, and a pronounced splitter merging with the bumper intakes. At the back, we can see thin Y-shaped LED taillights compatible with Lamborghini’s latest design choices, on the same level as the high-positioned quad exhaust pipes. The latter are round but judging from an earlier prototype we expect them to obtain hexagonal covers matching the surrounding body panels.

 

Slightly above the exhausts, there is an active rear wing with enough space to protect itself from the heat. Finally, a large portion of the rear bumper is covered by a massive diffuser. The engine cover is not complete on this early prototype, with parts of the powertrain still sticking out. Lamborghini has been working on its next flagship supercar for a while. The first mule appeared in November 2021 wearing an Aventador body, with a more evolved prototype in December 2021 hiding under a heavy dose of camouflage covers.

It has been officially confirmed that the new Lamborghini flagship will be fitted with a V12 following the tradition of its bloodline (Miura, Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, and Aventador), although this time it will be electrified. The hybrid powertrain will not share any components with the limited-production Sián FKP 37 and Countach LPI 800-4 mild-hybrids, featuring a new engine, drivetrain, electric motor, and battery. The debut of the next V12-powered Lamborghini is expected in 2023, following the facelifted Urus Evo, alongside the JV Stradale and Sterrato variants of the Huracan in 2022. Future plans include a hybrid baby Lambo in 2024 completing a fully electrified lineup, with the first fully electric Lamborghini expected to arrive in 2027 or 2028.
