BMW doesn’t sell the X7 as a legitimate M performance model but that hasn’t stopped German tuning expert Manhart Performance from making the next best thing to an X7 M. The tuner’s creation is dubbed the MHX7 650 and is based on the current X7 M50i. As standard, the X7 M50i features a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine pumping out an impressive 530 hp and 750 Nm of torque. To give the SUV some extra grunt, Manhart has tweaked the ECU, removed the standard petrol particulate filters, and installed a new valve-control sports exhaust system with four carbon-fiber tailpipes.
The result is an X7 that now churns out
650 hp and 920 Nm of torque. While Manhart hasn’t released acceleration
figures, there’s no doubt that the MHX7 650 will prove to be even quicker than
the standard model and likely also quicker than the Alpina XB7 with its 612 hp
and 800 Nm of torque.
A series of visual modifications have also
been made to the big BMW SUV. For example, has equipped the X7 with a new set
of carbon fiber wing mirrors, a carbon rear diffuser, and a carbon front
splitter with small aerodynamic winglets. The tuner has also wrapped the
exterior of the BMW in matte black and applied a host of bright gold accents.
Rounding out the visual changes are a set
of Y-spoke wheels measuring 23×11 at all four corners and wrapped in 295/35
tires. New coupling rods were also fitted to lower the ride height by
approximately 25 mm (1-inch). Manhart has not yet announced pricing details for
its range of X7 upgrades.
