Can-Am announced today that it will return to the two-wheel motorcycle market with a lineup of vehicles that will be all-electric. The announcement marks not only Can-Am’s entry into the field of electrification but also its long-awaited return to the motorcycle market.
The brand says that the upcoming
motorcycles are designed with many different riders in mind but mostly those
who “crave adventure, seek the thrill of the open road, long for a quiet ride
in the country, or want to liven up the city streets.” It will have products
for daily commuters and off-road riders. The manufacturer shared few further
details about the upcoming products but did say that it plans to have the first
model in the lineup on showrooms in the summer of 2024.
Can-Am currently sells the Spyder, a
three-wheel motorcycle, as well as snowmobiles and other powersport products.
It does, however, have a history in the two-wheel field. Formed in 1972 to sell
dirt bikes, it quickly dominated motocross and endurance racing but the brand
left the market shortly thereafter.
Now, Can-Am is celebrating its 50th
anniversary with a return to the two-wheel vehicles that inspired its creation.
