Packing all of 625 PS and 750 Nm of torque, the BMW M8 Coupe is a true Bavarian flagship. At € 175,000+, it is not exactly affordable, either. The tuning team of G-Power recommends buying an M850i xDrive instead and putting that € 43k+ you saved into tuning.
With an M850i, your starting point is much
lower at 530 PS. However, opting for an engine upgrade can
yield up to 670 PS along with 900 Nm of torque.
For an extra US$ 500, you can remove the speed limiter and let the 8-Series exceed
300 km/h in a straight line without breaking a sweat.
There are also some exterior mods to
consider. The list starts with a carbon-fiber hood with air intakes, an engine
bay lid made from the same material, and a rear spoiler. Standard wheels can be
replaced with lightweight Hurricane RR or RS series rims sized 20 or 21 inches
in diameter. There is very little available for the interior, though – mainly
tuner’s badges and plaques.
You may contact G-Power directly for a
price quotation, but we are told that boosting an M850i Coupe produced in June
2020 to its max potential would set you back € 28 per metric horsepower. To put
things into perspective, if you would rather buy the “real” M8 for its raw
performance, you would be adding € 455 per horsepower over the M850i. So, tuning
is clearly the more affordable option of the two by far.
