Jaguar has debuted two new straight-six engines in its F-Pace SUV, one diesel, one gasoline, and both SPORT, all caps, all yelling, according to the British brands nomenclature. The 3.0-liter diesel straight-six engine will be available in the Jaguar F-Pace 300 SPORT, while the gasoline version (also displacing 3.0-liters) will power the F-Pace 400 SPORT. Both diesel and gasoline models feature the same 48-volt mild hybrid system, which allows for an electric range of 53 km on the WLPT cycle. The diesel boasts a fuel economy figure of 38.2 mpg UK, and with the assistance of two turbochargers produces 296 hp and 478 lb-ft of torque. The diesel-powered F-Pace can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 km/h.
The gasoline version touts a power figure
of 395 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. The engine is both turbocharged and
electrically supercharged and can do the sprint to 60 a full second quicker
than the diesel with a time of just 5.0 seconds (0-100 km/h: 5.3 seconds) on to
a top speed of 250 km/h.
In addition to the new powertrains, the
F-Pace now comes standard with Amazon Alexa connectivity and allows for voice
connectivity with the Pivi Pro infotainment system’s features such as
navigation, music, podcasts, and calls. F-Pace owners who already have the Pivi
Pro infotainment system will be offered Alexa in an over-the-air software
update. Two new shades of grey are also available, with gloss black detailing
and a choice of either 21- or 22-inch forged wheels. In the UK, the F-Pace is
priced at £ 62,250 (equal to US$ 81,120 at today’s rates) for the diesel 300 SPORT
and £ 68,520 (US$ 89,291) for the gasoline 400 SPORT.
