Cadillac is going electric and the brand has announced the 2023 Lyriq will start at US$ 62,990 when orders open on May 19th. Deliveries are slated to begin this fall, which is several months after the Lyriq Debut Edition. The special edition sold out in a matter of minutes and is headed to customers this summer. While buyers have a wait ahead of them, they’ll find two new exterior colors known as Opulent Blue Metallic and Crystal White Tricoat. As a refresher, the Lyriq features a 100 kWh battery pack as well as a rear-mounted electric motor developing 340 hp and 440 Nm of torque. This setup gives the crossover an EPA-estimated range of 502 km on a single charge.
While the Lyriq will initially be offered
with rear-wheel drive, an all-wheel drive variant will arrive in early 2023
with a base price of US$ 64,990. Cadillac will release additional details closer
to launch, but the company has previously said the model will have two electric
motors that produce a combined output of approximately 500 hp. The all-wheel drive Lyriq will also be able to tow up to 1,588
kg.
In order to give customers a “seamless
charging experience,” buyers will have the option of getting two years of
unlimited public charging at EVgo stations or receiving up to a US$ 1,500 credit
that can be used for installing a home charger through Qmerit. It can be
applied towards “eligible professional installation of a Level 2 charger or a
240-volt outlet” at an owner’s home.
The latter is likely the better option and
Cadillac will offer 11.5 and 19.2 kW home chargers. While the crossover comes
standard with a dual-level charge cord, which enables customers to charge their
Lyriq from both 120- and 240-volt outlets, Cadillac noted installing a 240-volt
outlet or wall charger reduces the “time it takes to charge a depleted battery
from 3 days to overnight.”
In particular, the 19.2 kW charger can
deliver up to 84 km of range for every hour of charging. The
crossover also supports 190 kW DC fast chargers and they can provide
approximately 122 km of range in around 10 minutes.
