America’s best-selling midsize sedan is getting a few updates as Toyota has introduced the 2023 Camry. Since the eighth-generation model is presumably close to retirement, this year’s changes are minor and largely focus on a revised Nightshade Edition. Available on Camry SE models with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and hybrid powertrains, the Nightshade package features eye-catching 19-inch alloy wheels with a matte bronze finish. They contrast with the sedan’s revised color palette that includes new Reservoir Blue as well as Midnight Black and White. Those aren’t the only updates as the 2023 Camry Nightshade now has “black-trimmed headlights and taillights for a stronger dose of attitude.”
Besides the updates, the Nightshade
Edition features a TRD-inspired front fascia, a sport-tuned suspension, and
black badging. They’re joined by a black rear spoiler and black mirror caps.
There doesn’t appear to be any other
significant changes to the 2023 Camry, but the company confirmed it will once
again be offered with three different engines. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder
produces up to 206 hp and 252 Nm of torque, while
the 3.5-liter V6 develops 301 hp and 362 Nm of
torque.
With gas prices hovering around all-time
highs, a number of people will likely be interested in the Camry Hybrid that
offers a manufacturer-estimated fuel economy rating of up to 51 mpg city, 53
mpg highway, and 52 mpg combined. It features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine,
two electric motors, and a small lithium-ion battery pack. This setup enables
the hybrid to produce a combined output of 208 hp.
