A handful of renderings have been released of an intriguing new concept car designed by Lynk & Co. The study has been created with the help of Chinese fashion company inxxstreet and is based around the 05 SUV. It remains uncertain if the vehicle presented will remain firmly in the digital world or if Lynk & Co will actually produce a life-size version of the concept to show what its design team is capable of.
You’ll immediately notice that while the
concept is based on the 05, it shares very little in common with the production
coupe-crossover. The front end has a familiar set of headlights but apart from
that, pretty much everything else is new. This includes a distinctive front
fascia with a dramatically-styled front bumper, edgy LED daytime running
lights, and a slim black grille.
The wild design continues down the sides
of the 05 thanks to flared front and rear wheel arches that lack even the
slightest hint of a curve and are made up of nothing but straight lines and flat
surfaces. To our eyes, the sharp design philosophy somewhat reminds us of an
exaggerated custom Lamborghini Reventon. A set of rally-inspired wheels with
aero discs also catch the eye.
Lynk & Co has made further design
changes to the rear of the 05 and developed a pronounced lip spoiler, a wild
bumper, and a set of four massive tailpipes. It is extreme in the truest sense
of the word and should the car be presented to the public, will no doubt turn a
lot of heads.
Local media suspects the concept will have
the same powertrain as the road-going 05. That means a 2.0-liter turbocharged
engine producing 250 hp and 350 Nm and available with either
an 8-speed automatic or a manual transmission.
