Land Rover is commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Defender’s introduction to the North American market. The model, appropriately named the 2023 Defender 30th Anniversary Edition, pays tribute to the 1993 Land Rover Defender 110. Introduced in 1992, the 1993 Defender 110 was the first one sold in North America. Hand-built at Land Rover’s historic Solihull factory in the U.K., it is highly sought after by enthusiasts. The First Edition Defender 110, also limited to just 500 units, featured safari roll-over protection, a ladder, roof rack, and a heated windshield.
The 2023 Defender 30th Anniversary Edition
is limited to just 500 examples and is based on the Defender 110 P300 S model
and comes in Fuji White. It also gets a Cross Car Beam in White Powdercoat
Brushed Finish, 18-inch Gloss White Steel Wheels, which are contrasted by the
Ebony grained leather seats inside. A heritage exterior badge is placed on the
rear tailgate to cap it all off.
Naturally, the SUV is well equipped for
off-roading and features many of the all-terrain-focused accessories found on
the original. That includes an Expedition Roof Rack, Front and Rear Classic Mud
Flaps, rubber mats, fixed side steps, a deployable ladder, wheel arch extensions,
and an A Frame.
It’s not all classic and rugged, though.
Along with those old-school features, the Defender 30th Anniversary Edition
also gets modern amenities such as the Cold Climate Pack, the Tow Pack, the
Black Exterior Pack, and the Off-Road Pack. That means that it’s thoroughly
modern thanks to its air suspension, LED headlights, its three-zone climate
control, an air quality sensor, and an Activity Key, which is worn like a
bracelet. The 2023 Land Rover Defender 30th Anniversary Edition is on sale at
select dealers in the U.S. and is priced from US$ 75,000.
