The Hockenheimring remains one of the world’s great motorsport venues and this year it’s celebrating its 90th anniversary. Porsche has decided to celebrate with a special edition. The Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition not only celebrates the history of the famed track, it is also the automaker’s very first special edition based on an electric vehicle, potentially making this quite the collector’s item. Porsche says that the idea behind the car was to combine the track’s mottos of “mobile evolution” and “traditional elegance.”
The highlights are, of course, special
badges that feature a map of the track and the number 90, as well as Stone Grey
paint from the custom color program that is balanced against Bronzite accents.
That color extends to the spokes of the 21-inch Mission E Design wheels, while
the rim edge is finished in Stone Grey.
The interior is customized
with black leather that is contrasted by Island Green decorative stitching.
Decorative trim, meanwhile, comes in Paldao open-pore wood to give this Taycan
a classic flair. The selector lever, the cup holders, and the air vents are
finished in Bronzite, to match the exterior. The GT multifunction steering
wheel also gets Bronzite trim, while the 12-o’clock marking is finished in
Island Green.
In addition to the unique design touches,
owners of the vehicle will be given special perks at the track. With their
special edition key, owners can drive straight to the Porsche Experience Center
Hockenheimring, which is located at the heart of the track. It also comes with
two years of free charging at the track, and owners will be given preferential
parking at Porsche’s monthly gatherings for enthusiasts.
Porsche Taycan GTS Hockenheimring Edition will only be available in Germany
and other select European markets, presumably those within driving distance of
the track.
