When Ford introduced the redesigned F-150 Raptor last year, the company announced plans for an even more extreme R variant that would go toe-to-toe with the Ram 1500 TRX. It appears the company is now ready to hunt the tyrannosaurus as Ford CEO Jim Farley has posted a teaser video on Twitter.

Set to debut later this year, the 2023 F-150 Raptor R follows in the footsteps of the standard model but adopts a supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8. The engine produces an impressive 760 hp and 846 Nm of torque in the Shelby GT500 Mustang, although it might be retuned for truck use.

However, there’s little doubt the engine will be well-suited to battle the TRX’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that develops 702 hp and 880 Nm of torque. While there’s no word on how fast the Raptor R will be, the TRX can rocket from 0-96 km/h in 4.5 seconds, run the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 174 km/h, and hit a top speed of 190 km/h.

While Ford is keeping tight-lipped about the truck, a purported window sticker surfaced in May suggesting the model will have unique 17-inch wheels wrapped in massive 37-inch all-terrain tires. We can also expect 4.10 gearing, skid plates, and an electronic locking rear differential. They’ll be joined by an off-road focused suspension with Fox shocks as well as Trail Control and a Terrain Management system.

Given its range-topping status, the Raptor R should come nicely equipped and the window sticker suggested buyers will find a leather-wrapped steering wheel and Recaro leather front seats. They should be joined by power adjustable pedals, a dual-zone climate control system, and a 12-inch SYNC 4 infotainment system.
