Bentley unveiled the S range for the Continental GT and GTC, which focuses on sporty styling and driving pleasure, following the comfort-oriented Azure trim. The models are expanding the S range next to the Bentayga S and the Flying Spur S with visual upgrades, richer sound and a sporty chassis, retaining the same power output as the standard V8-powered models.
The Bentley Continental GT and GTC S are
distinguished by the regular variants thanks to the black gloss exterior
elements, the different wheels, and the S badging on the front fenders. More
specifically, the body’s brightware is finished in black chrome including the
grille, headlight and taillight trims, side inserts, rear diffuser, and quad
tailpipes, with the exception of the Bentley badges that retain their shiny
chrome.
There is a new set of
22-inch wheels finished in Gloss Black or Pale Brodgar Satin, with red brake
calipers sitting behind them. Alternatively, owners can choose a different set
of 21-inch wheels with a tri-spoke design that is also exclusive to the S
models.
The interior comes in a unique two-tone
split for the S, combining Dinamica upholstery on the steering wheel, gear
lever, seat cushion and backrests, with Bentley’s leather hide on the seat
bolsters, doors, instrument panel, and center console. The sporty seats feature
optional quilting and the S emblem or the Bentley emblem embroidered on the
headrests. Other features include the illuminated treadplates, new graphics for
the display, and the S badge on the dashboard.
While the letter S usually hints at
something sportier than standard, the GT and GTC S models don’t offer any extra
performance. They are exclusively available with the V8 engine, possibly in
order to avoid confusion with the W12-powered Speed variant. The twin-turbo
4.0-liter V8 produces the same 542 hp and 770 Nm of torque, allowing a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 4 seconds. The only
change is the beefier sound of the Sports Exhaust. Also standard in the S trim
is the Bentley Dynamic Ride 48V active anti-roll system which enhances handling
while improving road comfort.
Bentley didn’t announce pricing for the
Continental GT and GTC S but we expect it to be slightly higher than your
regular V8-powered Continental due to the aforementioned upgrades.
