Great Wall Motors has just patented this Cannon-based truck along with submitting official photos of it to the database. This means the bizarre pickup may reach the market soon.
According to Autohome, the premiere may
take place later this year. The main difference from the Cannon model mentioned
above is in the added third axle, while most of the rest stays the same. There
is also a bed wall add-on that we are not sure what it does, and new bumpers
with what appears to be some added lights. Yellow décor can be found on
multiple exterior panels.
The submitter of the patent is Guangzhou
Chaojing Automobile, the same company that brought us the CyberTank SUV based
on the Tank 300 chassis. It originally debuted as a cyberpunk-inspired show car
built for the Shanghai Expo, but somehow managed to reach mass production
later. This means the CyberP6ckup might do so, too.
The patent filings suggest the model comes
based on the P71 platform also used in the Haval H9. As such, it may ship with
a GW4C20NT turbocharged engine rated at 227 PS. We wouldn’t
be surprised to see an electric motor or some kind of boost added to the
powertrain of the six-wheel truck to help it cope with the added axle.
