Prices of the Jeep Meridian have been announced. The three-row SUV is priced from Rs 29.90 lakh (ex-showroom) going up to Rs 36.95 lakh (ex-showroom). These prices, however, are introductory and will be increased in the coming weeks. Click here to read our review of the new Jeep Meridian.
Based on the same platform as the Compass,
the Meridian is longer, taller and wider and has a longer wheelbase as well.
Aside from just increased boot space, the Meridian can take in more people than
the Compass as well with a seating capacity of seven thanks to the additional
row. Visually, it gets signature Jeep styling traits but there is clear
differentiation between it and the Compass. While the dashboard is nearly
identical to the Compass, Jeep has equipped the Meridian with different
upholstery and interior trims. In all, there are five exterior colours to
choose from. Only Limited (O) trim available in dual-tone colours.
Jeep is offering the Meridian only in
higher-end Limited and Limited (O) trims. The former misses out on the
panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, dual-tone exterior options and the
10.2-inch instrument cluster, getting a 7-inch digital display instead.
Meridian 4x2 is available with either a 6-speed MT or 9-speed AT in both trims,
while the Meridian 4x4 is restricted to the automatic variant in Limited (O)
trim.
Jeep Meridian price list (ex-showroom)
- Limited MT FWD - Rs 29.90 lakh
- Limited (O) MT FWD - Rs 32.40 lakh
- Limited 9AT FWD - 31.80 lakh
- Limited (O) 9AT FWD - Rs 34.30 lakh
- Limited (O) 9AT 4x4 - Rs 36.95 lakh
As it stands, the Jeep Meridian doesn’t
exactly have any direct rivals. At this price, though, the SUV locks horns with
the Skoda Kodiaq, although that’s petrol only, as well as more traditional body
on frame SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and even the MG Gloster. Then there’s
the Citroen C5 Aircross, which is similar in size and gets a diesel powertrain
but no three-row option.
