While the next generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is under development, the automaker unveiled the Final Edition of the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4Matic+ performance flagship. The special edition available in both saloon and estate forms will be limited to 999 units as a farewell to the current generation of the E-Class and AMG’s twin-turbo V8 since the new model will replace it with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Visually, the Final Edition stands out
thanks to the exclusive matte graphite grey magno exterior shade combined with
a set of 20-inch AMG forged wheels, special AMG badges and graphics on the
profile, plus the AMG Night Package. The latter includes a high-gloss black
finish for the front splitter, side sill inserts, fender trim, windowline trim,
mirror caps, rear diffuser, and quad trapezoidal tailpipes. Optionally, buyers
can choose the Carbon Packages I and II, if they prefer a carbon-fiber
treatment.
Opening the doors, you will be greeted by
the AMG logo projected on the ground and illuminated AMG brushed stainless
steel door sills. The AMG Performance Seat Package offers increased support
from the heated and electrically adjustable seats upholstered in titanium grey
pearl / black AMG Nappa leather with yellow contrasting stitching. Nappa
leather can also be found on the instrument cluster and the beltline, as well
as in the flat-bottom AMG Performance steering wheel combined with Dinamica
microfiber. There is plenty of carbon fiber on the center console and the dashboard
above the ambient lighting, as well as AMG-branded floor mats. Finally, a
numbered AMG Final Edition badge on the center console signifies the limited
nature of this special edition.
There are no changes under the bonnet,
with the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 producing 603 hp and 850 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels thanks to the fully
variable 4Matic+ with a rear-biased Drift Mode. Note that this is the last
V8-powered E-Class so it has a collectability status for AMG fans. Mercedes-AMG
will only make 999 units of the E 63 S 4Matic+ Final Edition and will offer a
special AMG indoor car cover as a gift to the owners. The automaker didn’t
announce pricing but we expect the Final Edition to be slightly more expensive
than the regular E 63 S due to the extra kit.
