Aznom Automotive shows an electric MINI restomod dubbed the MINI E-Classic, which comes with a 14 kWh battery pack with a range of up to 140 km. When compared to the modern MINI Cooper SE, which has a range of no less than 177 km from a 32.6-kwh package, the MINI E-Classic is not too ‘wow’. However, there are still many interesting things that can be seen from this restomod.
This Restomod can be said to be a bridge
for the MINI Cooper of the past with technology that is more environmentally
friendly and sustainable in the modern era. The MINI E-Classic is based on the
iconic MINI Mk5, which was completely converted into an electric vehicle with
the help of the 45 KW Retrofit system and ILifePo 14 KWH-DM219 battery. The
range of the E-Classic, as already mentioned, is 140 km, and although it’s
lower than the modern MINI Cooper model, it’s at least enough for short urban
driving.
The E-Classic is equipped with three
different driving modes, namely Eco, Normal, and Sport, and comes in Turquoise
“Tiffany” color. Meanwhile, the cabin is equipped with digital instrumentation
and leather seats, which are also covered with Alcantara fabric. A second
version, named “Cote d’Azur,” is being planned and will come with a “British
open” roof and a more fashionable aesthetic.
According to Aznom, this electric
conversion is compatible with all MINI models from 1982 onwards, but Aznom says
this electric conversion will be adapted for other vintage and classic cars in
the future. Aznom unveiled this electric MINI restomod at the Top Marques
Monaco 2022 event, which took place recently. Aznom said the first customer
sample cars will be delivered this summer, while production-ready cars will
start shipping in September 2022.
