After more than a decade of talks and planning, the electrified Porsche 911 now inches closer than ever to actual mass production. A prototype car has been spotted at the Nürburgring.

There is little to comment in the video, so let us recap the basics. Back in January this year, CEO of Porsche Italy specified that the 911 Hybrid was designed with a mild-hybrid system in mind and no opportunity to charge up the battery from an external source. Making it a PHEV would have made it heavier and therefore slower on the uptake. He emphasized that performance was being prioritized over fuel efficiency.

Other than that, Porsche has quite a bit of experience developing high-performance hybrid vehicles already. Take the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, for example, which makes 700 PS and 870 Nm of torque.
