It has been less than two months since patent images of Sany’s first electric pickup truck leaked online and already, we are getting a look at its second planned EV. Sany is a Chinese truck and construction equipment manufacturer and while it is best known for making cranes, trucks, and excavators, it appears to be throwing its hat into the EV race. The red pickup depicted in these images makes an immediate impression with a design unlike anything else on the road. The front end is particularly unique and sports an illuminated Sany badge, small headlights, and LED daytime running lights that look a little like eyebrows. We can also see that the front of the truck has two large tow hooks and a winch.
These images shared online by CarNewsChina
also show the Sany truck with pronounced front and rear wheel arches that are
finished in gray to contrast the rest of the truck’s red paint. The truck also
appears to have pop-out handles that sit flush with the bodywork and is also
rocking a set of large side steps. The bold wheels and off-road tires also
catch the eye, as do the aggressive C-pillars. Both two- and four-door variants
are depicted.
As for the rear of the truck, it sports
large LED taillights and two full-width light bars, creating a light array
similar in shape to a running track. The rear also features two additional tow
hooks.
Technical specifications about the vehicle
remain a mystery, as do Sany’s plans with both this truck and the one we saw in
early May. It’s entirely possible that the company plans to bring both models
to the market, but it’s also possible they will remain design concepts and
simply be used as promotional tools.
