The 2023 Kia Soul, which will begin at US$ 19,790, arrives at U.S. dealerships this summer. Costing US$ 500 more than its predecessor, the 2023 Soul features a streamlined front bumper, new lighting units, and a more stylized intake. The changes continue out back with a sportier bumper and updated taillights. In terms of equipment, the entry-level Soul LX features rear privacy glass and 16-inch steel wheels. Buyers will also find a digital instrument cluster, air conditioning, and an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
On the safety front, a number of
previously optional systems have now become standard. Thanks to this change,
the 2023 Soul comes equipped with Forward Collision Avoidance with Pedestrian
Detection, Lane Keep Assist, and Rear Occupant Alert.
Moving up the trim ladder is the US$ 22,290
Soul S, which rides on 16-inch alloy wheels. It comes equipped with a 10-way
power driver’s seat and a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system with GPS
navigation. Buyers will also find a dual-zone automatic climate control system,
a wireless smartphone charger, and a passive entry system with a push-button
ignition.
The mid-level Soul S also sports
additional safety features including Lane Change Assist, Lane Departure
Warning, and Blind Spot Collision Avoidance. They’re joined by High Beam Assist
and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist.
The US$ 23,390 Soul GT-Line goes in a
sportier direction as it features unique shocks and larger 18-inch alloy
wheels. The model is also distinguished by unique bumpers, additional
body-color components, and a chrome tipped center exhaust. Other highlights
include a leather-wrapped “D-shape” steering wheel, a sunroof, and seats that
feature cloth and artificial leather upholstery. Sitting at the top of the
range is the US$ 24,090 Soul EX, which features a sunroof and 17-inch alloy
wheels. Buyers will also find a leather-wrapped steering wheel and premium
cloth front seats with heating.
Regardless of which trim is selected, all
2023 Souls are equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 147
hp and 179 Nm of torque. It’s connected to an
intelligent variable transmission, which sends power exclusively to the front
wheels.
