The Rimac Nevera has crossed the finish line as the first production model has been built in Croatia. This is a momentous moment as the company noted the achievement was only made possible after “five years of development and testing, three generations of powertrain technology, 18 prototypes, 45 physical crash tests, and more than 1.6 million collective hours of research and development.”
That’s a ton of effort, especially for a
small company that had to deal with a global pandemic, a chip crisis, and a
million other issues. Despite the challenges, Rimac was able to bring the
Nevera to reality and the first production model features a pearlescent
Callisto Green exterior with Graphite Vertex wheels and a Sand Alcantara
interior. Of course, if you attended the Goodwood Festival of Speed, this isn’t
your first time seeing it as the model tackled the famous hill climb.
While this particular model, known as car
#000, is a full production version, it will remain in the possession of Bugatti
Rimac as a demonstrator and marketing car. However, it paves the way for
consumer models and those are already being assembled. Once that process is complete,
the cars will be delivered through the company’s network of 25 global dealers.
Rimac will build up to 50 cars annually,
but the first model year has already been sold out as “eager customers hope to
experience the world’s first all-electric hypercar.” If you’re name isn’t
already on the list, you’d better act fast as production will be limited to 150
units and each one promises to be unique. The latter is easy to understand as
Rimac noted there are “36 different pre-defined paint colors and the option to
go bespoke.” On top of that, there is a “selection of in-house-designed
liveries, three levels of exposed carbon fiber – including a full bare carbon
body – and an enormous selection of colorful leathers, Alcantara, contrasting
accents and metal finishes for the interior.”
As a refresher, the Nevera features a 120
kWh battery pack that powers four motors producing a combined output of 1,887
hp and 2,360 Nm of torque. This enables the
model to rocket from 0-96 km/h in 1.85 seconds and run the quarter
mile in a ridiculous 8.582 seconds.
