Chery has held a live presentation of its Exeed AtlantiX Concept at its soon-to-be-finished factory in Qingdao, China. The company has already produced the first test vehicle body there. The original AtlantiX Concept previewed a while ago was a large coupe-like SUV with suicide rear doors, no b-pillars and a novel appearance. The actual prototype is very close to it, minus the exotic doors. It still boasts lighting integrated into the various segments of its radiator grille, for example, along with unusual-looking angular headlamps sitting next to vertical LED DRLs.
Work on the production vehicle still
hasn’t been finalized, meaning we may yet see a simplification of these
headlight and grille designs. Other features we are not certain about are
uniquely shaped seats and a giant 24.6-inch display in the cabin. Knowing
Chery, it may opt for putting together a pair of standard 12.3-inch screens
instead.
As for the powertrain, the company promise
us a 2.0-liter petrol engine with up to 400 Nm of torque, an
eight-speed automatic transmission and AWD. The remaining parameters are not
available, but it is official that the production car will take advantage of a
high-end infotainment system and a wide variety of driving assist features.
The factory construction should be
complete next month, and the production start of the Exeed AtlantiX is
scheduled for November 18, 2022. The manufacturer plans to make 10,000 units
every year.
