A handful of spy images have emerged of Hengchi’s latest electric vehicle, dubbed the 6 and taking the form of a sleek SUV. The electric vehicle company owned by the giant Evergrande real estate development group has yet to start production or deliveries of its first model, the 5, but is already pushing forward with work on its next EV.
Hengchi first previewed the 6 back in 2020
in the form of a futuristic-looking concept. This is our first chance to see a
pre-production variant of the vehicle and while it is possible that a few
changes will be made to it before it hits the market, it looks largely ready to
hit the assembly line.
These images were shared online by Car
News China and show the Hengchi 6 from all angles. At the front, we can see a pair
of aggressive headlights that connect neatly to the hood. Like the Hengchi 5,
the 6 also lacks a traditional grille but does have a lower grille finished in
gloss black.
Viewed from the side, the difference
between the Hengchi 5 and the Hengchi 6 are obvious as the latter adopts a more
coupe-like design, providing it with a sleeker roofline and a unique decklid.
The rear three-quarter angle of the 6 is also quite intriguing as it reminds us
of the Renault Arkana and even has similar LED taillights to the French SUV.
The interior of the Hengchi 6 will be
virtually identical to the 5. This means the dashboard will be dominated be
three screens, not dissimilar to the ‘Hyperscreen’ developed by Mercedes-Benz.
These screens consist of a central 14.6-inch display flanked by a 10.25-inch
digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch display in front of the passenger.
Powertrain details have not been
confirmed, but the 6 is expected to be sold with a single electric motor that
pumps out 204 hp and 345 Nm of torque.
