A host of new images have surfaced online of the Xpeng G9 after it made its official debut at last November’s Guangzhou Auto Show. When Xpeng lifted the veil on its flagship SUV, it did so without showcasing its interior. However, a video shared to Weibo by Xpeng chairman He Xiaopeng has provided us with our first chance to see inside the all-electric SUV.
Dominating the dashboard of the Xpeng G9
is a digital instrument cluster and two large infotainment screens that house
virtually all of the SUV’s controls. These images of the interior also show two
wireless charging pads in the center console, as well as a flat-bottom steering
wheel, and lovely metallic Dynaudio speaker grilles on the door panels. An
ambient lighting system is also visible.
Xpeng didn’t reveal much about the G9’s
powertrain when it was first showcased in November. We now know that it
features a pair of electric motors consisting of a 234 hp unit at the
front axle and a 308 hp unit at the rear axle. The capacity of the
G9’s battery pack remains uncertain but it says the SUV uses an
800-volt architecture that supports 480 kW charging, meaning 200 km of range can be added in just 5 minutes. It is understood that flagship
variants will be able to travel over 700 km on a charge and hit 100
km/h in 3 seconds.
Xpeng has also equipped the G9 with its
XPILOT 4.0 semi-autonomous driving system that has two LiDAR sensors, an 8
million pixel front binocular camera and 2.9 million pixel side cameras,
allowing for semi-autonomous driving functions. Pre-orders for the Xpeng G9
will open in China on August 10 with the first deliveries penciled in for
September. Final pricing details have yet to be announced.
