About a week ago, a prototype version of the Nissan Z with mysterious camouflage on its front bumper. This prototype, or another one similar to it, was spotted once again by members of the New Nissan Z forum, and these new, more front-facing images show the bumper in much better detail. The main thing that stood out about this design was the curious use of camouflage. Based on the looks of it, it was speculated that the new bumper could be a production version of the Z Customized Proto concept’s split grille design.
Much like that grille, opinions on the
regular Z’s front end have been split, with some feeling that it’s a perfect
homage to a bumper-deleted 240Z, while others feel that the gaping rectangle is
out of place on the car’s otherwise curvaceous design. Should this car end up
spawning an optional bumper in the same spirit as the Z Customized Proto, it
should help satisfy the latter camp.
However, based on some new details that
are now visible in these new photos, some members on the forum are starting to
believe that this may be a Nismo variant, if not at least a testbed for future
performance parts. The seats, for example, look to be the exact same Recaro
bucket seats that were in the 370Z Nismo, and given how much these two cars
have in common under the skin, it left many wondering what else could be
carried over from the hotter 370Z.
