Ford today announced that it is reopening order books for the Mustang Mach-E with the introduction of the 2023 model year vehicle. Largely the same from an equipment standpoint (albeit, with a few updates), the biggest difference between the 2022 model and 2023 is the pricing. MSRPs for the all-electric SUV have risen by as much as US$ 8,300 for the coming year. The biggest difference will be felt by customers looking to buy a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1, which now costs US$ 63,575 (excluding destination fee) and is available exclusively in AWD, which accounts for part of the lofty price hike.
Ford is hardly alone in raising prices for
new vehicles, with EV manufacturers all over America increasing MSRPs for this
coming year. For its part, the blue oval blames material costs for the rising
prices. Fortunately, not all price are increasing by quite as much. The base
model Mustang Mach-E, the Select trim, will start at US$ 46,895, up $3,000 from
2022. Early adopters, though, were apparently the savviest, because that price
was already up US$ 1,000 from the 2021 model.
The 2023 Mustang Mach-E Premium,
meanwhile, starts at US$ 54,975, which US$ 5,875 more than the trim started at in
2022 (which again, was US$ 1,000 more than it started at in 2021). The GT trim, now starts at US$ 69,895, which is US$ 7,900 more than it did a year ago.
In addition to adding dollars to the price, though, Ford has also added some
new features. Co-Pilot360 Driver Assist Technology, for instance, is now standard
across the entire lineup and the BlueCruise hands-free driving assistant is now
available as a complimentary 90-day-trial for owners of certain models.
The Mustang Nite Pony package, meanwhile,
(an US$ 800 option) is now available for the Premium trim and comes with
high-gloss black 19-inch wheels, black front and rear lower fascia, door
cladding, and mirror caps. Also available on the GT trim, it adds 20-inch
wheels and black GT badges. The panoramic fixed-glass roof is now standard on
the GT and the GT Performance Edition model, replacing the black painted roof.
New colors, meanwhile, grace the lineup, with Carbonized Gray Metallic and
Vapor replacing Dark Matter Gray Metallic, and Blue Silver Metallic.
For those undeterred by the pricing
increases, order banks for the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E open on August 30.
