Hot on the heels of the Electrified GV70 landing on Australian shores, Genesis has introduced the Electrified G80, its first all-electric sedan. As in overseas markets, the Electrified G80 features an 87.2 kWh battery pack that drives 182 hp front and 182 hp rear electric motors, making a combined 365 hp and 700 Nm of torque. These two motors send the car to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and under the WLTP testing protocol, the car can travel up to 520 km on a single charge.
Hyundai Motor Group’s 400/800V
multi-rapid-charging system is found in the Electrified G80, as it is in other
electric models from the group. This system means the battery can be charged
from 10 to 80 per cent in just 22 minutes while also supporting a Vehicle To
Load (V2L) system with Vehicle To Vehicle charging functionality. A host of
other technologies come standard on the Electrified G80. These include
Electrically Assisted Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (eDTVC), Road-Preview
Electronic Control Suspension, Active Noise Control – Road, and even a solar
roof. Just a single variant will be offered to Aussie consumers starting at
AU$ 145,000 (US$ 97,827), with the only option being a AU$ 2,000 (US$ 1,349) matte
paint.
An abundance of safety features come
standard. These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Junction
Turning/Crossing functionality, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Driver
Attention Warning, Forward Attention Warning, Blind-Spot View Monitor, High
Beam Assist, and an Intelligent Front-lighting system. Other features include
Lane Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Reverse
Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Smart Parking Assist. A total of 11
exterior colors are available for the Electrified G80, 10 of which are shared
with the ICE models while an exclusive shade of Matira Blue is offered solely
for the EV. As for the interior, it is offered in Obsidian Black, Havana Brown,
Forest Blue, and Glacier White configurations.
Among the key interior luxuries include a
20-speaker Lexicon by Harman audio system, 18-way power adjustable driver seat,
14.5-inch augmented reality infotainment screen, and a 12.3-inch 3D digital
instrument cluster.
