The 2023 Mercedes EQS SUV will arrive at U.S. dealerships this fall and the company has announced pricing will start at US$ 104,400. The electric luxury crossover will be offered in three trims, each with three different powertrains. Mercedes hasn’t released full details at this point, but entry-level Premium variants come nicely equipped with heated and ventilated leather front seats and a panoramic glass roof. Buyers will also find a Burmester 3D sound system, a 64-color ambient lighting system, and an electrically adjustable second row.

Other highlights include 20- or 21-inch wheels, rear axle steering, and a Parking Package with a Surround View System. They’re joined by illuminated door sill plates, an AIRMATIC air suspension with adaptive damping, and a Driver Assistance Package. The latter includes Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Lane Keeping and Blind Spot Assist, and PRE-SAFE PLUS with PRE-SAFE Impulse Side. Moving up the trim ladder is the Exclusive variant, which begins at US$ 108,650. It adds rapid heating, multicontour front seats with a massage function and a four-zone climate control system. Other niceties include an Air Balance Package, a head-up display, and Mercedes star logo projectors.

 

The range-topping Pinnacle trim starts at US$ 110,650 and is more luxurious as it features second-row executive seats as well as a rear armrest that includes a wireless smartphone charger. Other rear seat amenities include comfort headrests and an MBUX rear tablet. Besides the trim level differences, there are small variations between the 450 and 580 variants. In particular, 450 models have a 12.8-inch infotainment system while the EQS 580 4MATIC SUV boasts an MBUX Hyperscreen that consists of three separate displays that span 56 inches. Regardless of which system is selected, all models have an EQ-specific navigation system that “seamlessly plans the fastest and most convenient route, including charging stops, and dynamically reacts to traffic jams or a change in driving style.”

On the performance front, the EQS 450+ SUV has a rear-mounted electric motor that develops 355 hp and 567 Nm of torque. It enables the model to travel an EPA-estimated 491 km on a single charge. The company didn’t say much about the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV, but it presumably has a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with a combined output of 355 hp and 800 Nm of torque. Regardless of the final numbers, the mid-level crossover has an EPA-estimated range of 459 km.

Lastly, there’s the performance-oriented EQS 580 4MATIC SUV which has a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that produces 536 hp and 857 Nm of torque. Despite being significantly more powerful, the model also has a range of 459 km.
