American startup Nimbus began taking orders for its first Model One. The original three-wheeled electric car combines features of a car and a motorcycle. Details about the car have been disclosed on the brand’s official website. The Nimbus One has been in development since 2019, with startup founder Lihan Nong managing to raise US$ 5.1 million in investment for the project. The production model has already passed all the tests.
The Nimbus One electric tricycle reaches
only 2.3 meters in length and 0.86 meters in width. Such compact dimensions make
it possible to fit three such electric vehicles in one standard parking space. Nimbus
One looks like a capsule on wheels. The body is made of steel and durable
plastic and weighs only 375 kg. In the cabin, the passenger sits behind the
driver, just like in a motorcycle. The Nimbus One has the standard steering
wheel, pedals, and even an airbag, and the instrument readings are displayed on
a special tablet.
The power of the motor Nimbus One has not
yet been disclosed, but it is known that the electric car can reach 80 km/h and
accelerates to 50 km/h in 3 seconds. In corners, it rolls like a motorcycle:
the body can tilt at an angle of 33, and the stabilization system ensures that
the Nimbus does not turn over. Two batteries with a total capacity of 9 kWh
provide a range of 150 km. They can be charged in 5.5 hours, and it can even be
done at home – the batteries can be easily removed from the car.
Production of the electric car begins in
September 2023, but you can order it now, making an advance payment of US$ 100. The
Nimbus One will only cost US$ 10,000 and can also be leased for US$ 200 a month.
