Spanish coachbuilder Hurtan is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, thus they revealed a special edition of the Grand Albaycín with a limited production of six units. The roadster is based on the Mazda MX-5 ND, combining the tried-and-tested underpinnings with a retro-flavored bodywork and a reupholstered cabin. The Hurtan Grand Albaycín 30th Anniversary Edition builds on the regular model that was introduced in 2021. There are no styling changes on the bodywork which was inspired by cars of the ’50s and the ’60s. The model immediately stands out thanks to the bulged fenders, the old-school grille, and the round LED lighting units, although the proportions are quite weird from some angles.

For the six anniversary models, Hurtan is offering more customization options. The color palette includes three shades – midnight blue, cherry red, and lead grey. Those can be combined with two different interior trims. From the press shots, we can see they have wood or metal interior accents, while both of them feature quilted leather upholstery and a special 30th-anniversary badge on the headrests. Owners of the special models will also get a photo book certifying their authenticity. Finally, they will automatically be part of the “exclusive Hurtan Club” just like every other Grand Albaycín owner, taking part in meetings, rallies, and events.

 

Just like the regular Hurtan Grand Albaycín, the 30th Anniversary Edition is offered in Cabrio and Targa bodystyles with the latter featuring the retractable metal roof of the Mazda MX-5 RF. Under the bonnet, there is either Mazda’s 1.5-liter engine producing 130 hp, or the more powerful 2.0-liter engine producing 181 hp. Hurtan didn’t announce pricing for the special edition although we expect it to be more expensive than the regular model retailing anywhere between € 59,000 (US$ 61,430) and € 82,300 (US$ 85,691) depending on the configuration. This is a far cry from the Mazda MX-5 ND which can be had for less than half the base price of a Hurtan.

For its 30th birthday this year, the coachbuilder is preparing a “major anniversary event” for all Hurtan owners where it will announce its future plans promised to be “full of big surprises”.
