It’s been months since we’ve seen the 2024 MINI Countryman, but the model has returned and it’s sporting new camouflage as well as production lighting units. Spotted in two different locations, the latest batch of images appear to show the range-topping Countryman JCW as the prototypes have a four-tailpipe exhaust system and beefy brakes that are backed up by red calipers. At the front, there are new headlights which are less circular and now sport a horizontal daytime running light bar. We can also get a glimpse of the new fascia, which features a wide grille as well as stacked lower intakes.
Moving further back, there’s a pronounced
shoulder line and streamlined bodywork that looks slightly slab-sided. Designers have also given the model
flush-mounted door handles, less pronounced cladding, and what appears to be a
thick C-pillar. The biggest change is
the Countryman’s increased size as the crossover will become more closely
aligned with the BMW X1. Rounding out the highlights are a more pronounced rear
spoiler and new pixel-style taillights.
The latter feature horizontal brake light bars and a center section that
functions as a turn signal.
While automakers are usually tight-lipped
about upcoming models, MINI has been pretty talkative about the
Countryman. In particular, the automaker
has already confirmed the model will go into production next year and be built
in Leipzig. It will be joined by an electric
variant, which is expected to echo the redesigned BMW iX1. As a result, the model could have a 64.7 kWh
battery pack that powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing a
combined output of 308 hp and 494 Nm of torque.
MINI has also confirmed plans for ICE
options and rumors suggest they could be shared with the X1. If that’s the
case, there could be a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 241 hp and 400 Nm of torque. As for the JCW variant, it could
have approximately 302 hp and 450 Nm of torque.
