The camera-wielding, car-stalking crowd has trained their lenses on the Mengshi M-Terrain, a massive SUV being tested on the public roads of China right now. The newest bunch of photos reveals the car inside and out with lighting and other details. Like the concept version introduced in August, the production car will boast a boxy body with lots of sharp-looking edges. The headlights will be larger than originally planned, and while the radiator grille looks the same in general, it may have lost its contour backlight.

The inner space follows the same theme as the exterior. An unusual control block between the seats draws attention to itself, but we suppose it is the drive mode selector. A heads-up display, digital gauges and a large head unit can also be seen on the shots.

If you look closer at the shots showing the M-Terrain in the traffic, you will notice that it is much larger than the Toyota Camry and the Volkswagen Passat. In all likelihood, it is even bulkier than the Land Rover Defender or the Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

Mengshi is a sub-brand owned by Dongfeng. M-Terrain is coming to the market armed with a quad-motor electric powertrain rated at nearly 1,100 PS, which will enable it to sprint 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds despite the bulk. A range-extender hybrid version is also expected to come out with a small-time turbo engine generating power for the electric drive system.
